So....I joined a gym.
And I love it.
I joined because HB is a big fitness nut, and we were looking for some way to increase our time together. I've been on a weight loss program since July, temporarily stalled when I was pregnant. I've lost 20 lbs in total since joining, but knew that sooner or later, I was going to have to introduce some exercise.
I hate exercise.
Have always hated exercise.
Did I mention how surprised I am, therefore, that I love going to the gym?
I never cease to amaze myself!

Congrats! Keep it up - and keep rubbing our noses in it to keep us motivated, too. I hate it, but until the last two weeks, have been good about walking. My neighbor makes me. Having that outside motivator is key.
Exercise. Ugh. I hate it too. Would you mind telling us(me) what exactly you love about the gym? I have been thinking about joining one for almost a year and I'm afraid I'll hate it. What machines/exercises do you like to do?
Grrrr....I hate my own security stuff with leaving comments and this new google thing! My SIL has a gmail account which apparently keeps HER signed in - but not me!!!
Michelle: I'm enjoying a hill program on the treadmill, as well as the bike and the rowing machine. I'm also just learning how to do stomach crunches using a big ball - but am not very good at it. The rest of the stuff is mostly stretching (which I don't like but know I have to do because I'm old and break easily...lol). We haven't added any weight training to my regime yet - that will come. I'm just working on routine right now!
Good luck with your decision to join. It only took me, oh 20 years :-)
I hate excersice too! What are you doing that makes it more enjoyable?
I am totally barging in here because nobody asked me, BUT - I too hate the gym and all forms of exercise, and I have found a way to make it palatable.
I love to read. So I go to the library, get out a book on CD, put it on my iPod and then I listen to the book while exercising. It blocks out the heinous gym environment and enjoying the book is an incentive to go back to the gym next time.
Hope this helps...
I hated going to the gym until I got my iPod. Every time I put a new song on my "Workout" playlist, I can't wait to go and hear it! I know I am a dork. I don't do the classes, this is pure ME time, so I do the elliptical and all the machines, then some stretching. Good for you, Sandy!
